Neville set to follow Moyes to Old Trafford

28/05/2013 | Comments (28)
Phil Neville could head a group of backroom members out of the Goodison exit door for Old Trafford with reports he is on the verge of joining David Moyes at Manchester United.

The defender was set to leave Everton this summer anyway but is believed to have interviewed with Bill Kenwright with a view to replacing Moyes in the Goodison hotseat. It seems, though, that he will now get the chance to return to his boyhood club in a coaching capacity.

Moyes's former assistant Steve Round, goalkeeping coach Chris Woods and chief scout Robbie Cooke are also rumoured to be following the 50 year-old Scot along the M62.

Good. That should end the option of an internal appointment.

So, James, Stubbs & Alan Irvine are going too?
Personally, I don't want an internal appointment either but I think it would be a shame to lose valuable experience from the backup and coaching staff. They may be very valuable to "counter balance" an external candidate. For example, if we got in Pereira (my hope) or even Martinez (my gut feeling) they may be better if working in tandem with PN/SR.

I also feel that the longer BK stalls on this decision the more instability there will be in the club. After all, people like PN may decide that they would rather take their future in their own hands now rather than wait around for some unknown.
The same instability may trickle down to the players eventually.

We need the new manager in ASAP now — it's going on too long.

The new manager will need to pick an assistant and new staff. It's dragging on too much... I think Martinez will stay at Wigan.

It really is taking too long, managers are starting to sign for other clubs. Soon his only option will be an internal appointment.....

This is starting to become a farce already. Allowing the manager to go for free, and then the back room staff. Although it would not be a bad idea for some to go and new ideas come in, there is going to be some instability. The other problem I see with the lack of a manager - if and when they player return to training; who is going to take it? Another is that without a manager in place we are missing out on the free agents and early negotiations on potential transfers.

BK needs to get this sorted ASAP

Andrew #122 - Maybe that is Billy Bullshit's plan. Delay the appointment of a new manager and save money on transfers. Moyes said he had this all in place but he probably says that every year until this shithouse board pull the plug.

The only way we're going to keep all of our backroom staff is if the new manager is an internal appointment. A new manager will want to bring his own staff with him. Therefore, it could be a blessing in disguise if people behind the scenes follow Moyes to Man Utd, as it will mean that we don't have to pay them off when we let them go.

Neville, Round, Woods and Lumsden could leave without me raising an eyebrow and Neville might just make me raise a glass. His happy to finish top half attitude undermines the positive things he has brought to the club. Plus, I know it's silky and paranoid, he feels to me like a plant to help keep us in our place in relation to our illustrious neighbours down the East Lancs.

The scouting network, on the other hand... How much of the unearthing of undervalued talent recently has been down to the scouting network and how much was down to that previous fella?

Man Utd forums are mad about the fact that Rene Meulensteen has laeft due to being replaced. A lot of players rate him very high and he aslo has UEFA A badges unlike Phil Neville whom only has UEFA B badges and no experience in europe.

So lets have Meulensteen as the next manager then ? Probably a bit to simplistic for poor Bill, my guess is he is dragging this out so all candidates are commited then the only option is an internal one.

GET YOUR FUCKING FINGER OUT YOU CHARLATAN !

Why would we appoint a new manager when we already have one? It's not as if the club are going to be pay 2 lots of wages out for the same position is it? I fully expect the new manager to be appointed when and only when Moyes officially leaves. It's a drama, the only thing Bullshit Bill can pull off. As said above, the candidates will become thin on the ground soon and Bill will tell us all that he was looking 24/7 for a new manager and then Alan Stubbs walked into his office and Bill thought "Wow".

Why not Andrew we are already paying Man Utds manager and he's busy poaching club staff whilst he is at it.

Can picture the charlatan not knowing if he's on camera or not between fake blubbering and sniffing Moyes' vacant office chair clueless as ever.

As I suggested before Moyes making moves whilst still the manager, However I was shouted down that he wouldnt do that by other members. I suspect he is full at it now trying to prise staff away etc. Anyway no great loss really it just adds to more hard work for our new manager to bring in coaches etc.

I think we'll know by Friday. Laudrup has now had assurances of funding from Jenkins, so he's out of the equation. Martinez returns from Spain today and Pereira has to respond to Portos offer this week.
I 'm quite pleased Round is hopefully going. I believe a lot of our negative football started when Irvine left and he arrived, remember, the smoggies sacked him for his negativity.
Lets not forget Phelan is now looking for a job, No2 here would be interesting?. Lets really stoke the fires, Phelan interviewed for the managers job??. Yeah, I know but, stranger things have happened.

Iain I would take Phelan as head coach, certainly got a better track record than scraps of paper Round.

Gavin, he's definately motivated. Done a good job at OT for a number of years then effectively sacked by a new manager ( who officially isn't there yet).

i agree with Gavin Phelan would make a good coach. Rene is massively respected across the board as well it seems folly by Utd to get rid of them.

Round hardly has a record that compares so its a strange one.

Stubbs/Weir won't be appointed. Kenshite wants us to stay up in the top half for the readies so there is no way he will risk that.

Looks like we might be getting Martinez, therefore, I would expect that we will retain our back room staff. Surely we will not bring in the entire gang that got Wigan relegated? Not their defensive coach at least.

Ferguson speaks very highly of Muelensteen.
Would he be interested in a coaches job at Everton?

5 managers were appointed within a two week period, early June last year.
