Brentford eye permanent move for Bidwell

12/06/2013 | Comments (7)
After the player spent last season on loan at Griffin Park, Brentford will approach Everton about securing Jake Bidwell on a permanent contract this summer.

Bidwell's second spell with the Bees almost ended in promotion to the Championship but after a dramatic finale against Doncaster on the final day of the season saw them denied automatic promotion, the London side lost to Yeovil in the League One play-off final at Wembley.

Now manager Uwe Rosler is keen to recruit the former England youth international on a permanent transfer from Everton, according to the Hounslow Chronicle.

It would be nice if Roberto Martinez got chance to actually work with Jake Bidwell for a few weeks before selling him to the lower leagues. You never know Bidwell might actually be worth taking a look at. He was highly regarded a couple of years ago.

A workmate and Bentford season ticket holder says he's the best left back in the division.

We've got plenty of cover at LB with Baines, Oviedo and Garbutt so I would say sell the kid with first option to buy back plus an addon fee if sold elsewhere.

Think Jay has it right. Garbutt in particular is a similar age but seems to be rated higher. No way both of them will get the playing time to develop with us.

Sell him with a future profit option and good luck to the lad

Went to the Brentford play off final. Thought he was one of the poorer players on the pitch. In my opinion never going to be a Premier League player,so good move for him and the club.

We won't get much for him. I'd loan him out there for another year and see how he progresses. I prefer Garbutt, but he's still worth hanging on to.

Personally, I'd loan him out to a Championship side, to bring on his development.
