Fer link revived
Representatives of Leroy Fer "understand" that Everton will make a renewed attempt to sign the Dutch U21 star this summer, report the
Daily Mail.
Fer's proposed £8m transfer to Goodison fell through in January after Everton raised concerns over the results of a medical on the player's knee.
There have been persistent rumblings in the media since that both the midfielder and the Blues would revisit the move in the summer and the Mail's report is the latest echo of that speculation.

Daily Mail making good early runnings this summer to lead the "bull shit transfer stakes". Love the unnecessary quotation marks. Are they actually suggesting that the representatives don't understand anything about a genuine offer. That would actually be a more worthwhile story.

Wish we woulda signed him back in January, he would be settled in by now and raring to go for next season. Bit of a farce really.

I wonder if he would cost less than last time? I heard his form tailed off a touch after the January move fell through. On the other hand why on earth would Twente want to do business with us?

Does he have a different knee now?..... One that's ok enough to pass an Everton medical?

John - 860 - it's not that he has new knees, it could be because his medical at us was not that long after his injury. He has now had a full season and a U21 tournament under his belt and his knee has proved itself healed.
On the other hand Fer denies that he failed the medical because of his knees. So all bets are off.

I don't think it was stated Fer had failed the medical but there were concerns brought up in it as a result of his recent knee injury. This apparently persuaded Moyes in particular to suggest altering the structure of the payments depending on whether the injury flared up once again. That was where the deal fell through as Twente simply said no to that and wanted the pre-medical agreement to stand.

"This apparently persuaded Moyes in particular to suggest altering the structure of the payments" - was he paying them himself? Didn't know he did the accounting work for us too.

If Fellaini leaves then by all means I would target Fer, I think a new striker and goalkeeper should be Martinez's first priority.
With Martinez currently in Brazil doing TV work, I'm sure he must have been impressed by Honda from Japan and Mexico also had some impressive performers: Dos Santos the ex -Spurs player always looks impressive on international duty so he might be worth a gamble again.
