Martinez standing firm amid speculation

Roberto Martinez's post-match interviews were dominated by questions over the futures of Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines as media speculation escalates ahead of the transfer deadline but he insisted that nothing has changed from the club's point of view.

“There is nothing to comment on to our fans," the manager said following reports earlier in the day that Baines had asked the Board to conclude a deal with Manchester United, something Everton have denied.

“As I said before, I'm not going to entertain any speculation. If there is anything to tell our fans, we will tell them," Martinez continued.

“At the moment we are looking at it from a different perspective — we want to get one or two more bodies in.

“We are focused on the games and we are going to carry on working internally.”
