Alcaraz out for another month

Antolin Alcaraz is fast gaining an unwanted reputation as something of a crock, having still not made his Everton debut since joing on a free-transfer from Wigan back in July and making only 14 appearances for the relegated Lancashire club last season. The latest news is that he will be out for another month.

The Daily Post reports that the Paraguayan, who recently got back to fitness following hernia surgery, has now picked up a groin injury which is likely to see him sidelined for another month yet.

“Nothing is more frustrating than injuries,” his manager, Roberto Martinez, said.

“As a player you can cope with any sort of disappointment. If you're not in the team, if you're not performing well, there's always that opportunity to go out and train next morning.

“When you're out of that day-to-day work in the dressing room you just don't feel like a footballer. When you arrive into a new club you want to have that feeling of being able to compete and show what you can do.

“But Antolin is a fighter, he is a leader, he's been through many, many situations. We are excited to see the best of Antolin in the next four weeks and I do feel that now we are going to be able to do it.”
