Martinez confident over Lukaku's fitness

Romelu Lukaku will have his leg assessed this week by club medical staff after he had to be withdrawn from yesterday's draw with Tottenham following a collision with Hugo Lloris but Roberto Martinez is hopeful he will be fit for the weekend.

Lukaku caught the Spurs 'keeper in the head as the two rushed headlong to reach a loose ball late in the second half of the stalemate — an incident that referee Kevin Friend controversially deemed a bookable offence by the Belgian — at Goodison and was replaced by Nikica Jelavic for the remainder of the game.

"We will have to assess it, it seems like a dead leg and nothing serious," Martinez told evertonfc.com. "Unfortunately, he had to come off at that time."

"I saw it as a complete accident," the manager added. "Rom is powerful man who tried to get there first. I didn't see the reason for a yellow card - I did see it as a little bit harsh."
