Phil Dowd has been charged with the responsibility of officiating the first Merseyside derby of the season at Goodison Park this weekend.

The 40 year-old referee oversaw the reverse fixture at Anfield in March and has been chosen again in a game that has seen a catalog of awful refereeing in the Premier League era, from the likes of Graham Poll, Mark Clattenburg and Martin Atkinson.
