U18s beat Liverpool 3-1

Everton Under-18s returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Liverpool at Finch Farm on Tuesday. The Toffees rebounded from back-to-back defeats with an excellent win over their local rivals.

Everton went 3-0 up inside an hour after first-half strikes from Ryan Ledson and George Green were followed up after the break by Courtney Duffus' powerful header.

Seemingly cruising, the young Blues were dealt a severe blow when midfielder Joe Williams was shown a straight red card on 58 minutes following a late challenge.

Everton's 10 men held out until the 82nd minute, when the Reds pulled a goal back from the spot following a questionable handball decision. But they were unable to further cut Everton's lead and Kevin Sheedy's side managed to complete a morale-boosting triumph.
