Roberto Martinez has confirmed that Everton have been approached by two clubs regarding Nikica Jelavic who could be allowed to leave in January.

The manager admitted during his press conference ahead of the Southampton match that the Croatian is keen to play first-team football as he seeks a place in his country's squad for the World Cup Finals in Brazil next summer and that could be the determining factor in whether he stays or goes.

"We've had a couple of enquiries from two different clubs for one of our players," the Spaniard said.

"Nikica Jelavic is someone who we have made it very clear to —we've had a conversation and he has the World Cup around the corner.

"He needs to be playing minutes and we understand that. We'll always try to give it a good assessment of the situation but that's not affecting anyone at the club.

"Whatever happens in January will be for the good of the football club and that's where the work is."

Though Martinez did not name either of the interested parties, West Ham have been strongly linked with Jelavic in the press in recent weeks.
