Clubs make inquiries about Heitinga

Everton have received approaches from two clubs regarding John Heitinga who is intent on leaving Goodison this month to secure first-team football ahead of this summer's World Cup Finals.

Roberto Martinez confirmed after today's win over Stevenage, in which Heitinga scored after coming on as a half-time substitute for Phil Jagielka, that a club in Italy and a club in Turkey are interested in signing the Dutch defender.

Though the 30 year-old's agent had intimated this past week that Heitinga would only consider playing in one of Europe's "top leagues" and had discounted interest from Turkey, it is now believed that he will consider a move to Galatasaray.

AS Roma have been heavily linked with Heitinga over the last few weeks and are believed to be his preferred destination but it has not been confirmed that they are the Italian club to which Martinez referred.
