New one-year deal for Distin

Defender extends stay at Goodison until 2015

Everton have announced that Sylvain Distin has signed another one-year extension to his contract.

The 36 year-old remains in age-defying form this season and his absence has been felt over the last month in the matches where he has been sidelined by a slight hamstring strain.

Signed by the Blues in 2009, Distin is approaching his 150th league appearance in Everton colours.

“It was an easy agreement but I thought it would be any way. I never had any intention to leave and I'm happy where I am ," the Frenchman told evertontv.

“I feel comfortable and the manager and chairman are happy with what I am doing, so there was no question of doubt in my mind that we would find a solution.

“I'm happy here. The atmosphere in the dressing room makes me want to stay and at this stage of my career it's important I enjoy my football. That's the main reason why I'm still here, because I still enjoy it."
