Everton defenders Luke Garbutt and Tyias Browning have played in both of England U20s' group games so far in the Toulon Tournament but yesterday's defeat to Brazil means they are unlikely to reach the final.

England beat Qatar 3-0 last Tuesday, with Garbutt playing 74 minutes and Browning the full 90, thanks to goals by Obita, Forster-Caskey, and Cousins.

They could not contain Brazil yesterday, though, losing 2-1 despite James Ward-Prowse's excellent free kick. Garbutt played an hour of that match while Browning again featured for the whole game.

England would need to win their two remaining games and hope that Brazil lose to Qatar if they are to make the final but, realistically, they are aiming for the third place slot.

The Blues' third planned representative at the tournament was John Stones but he has been training with the senior England squad on standby for Phil Jones for the plane to Brazil.
