Tim Howard captained the USA to a 2-0 win over Azerbaijan in a windswept friendly in San Francisco last night as Jurgen Klinsmann's team continue their World Cup preparations.

The Americans made hard work of it until Mix Diskerud came off the bench to break the deadlock in the second half and Aron Johannsson doubled the advantage six minutes later.

Steven Naismith played 45 minutes for Scotland against Nigeria at Craven Cottage this evening in a game that featured a bizarre own goal by Azubuike Egwuekwe.

The game ended 2-2 after Uche Nwofor scored a late equaliser.

Meanwhile, Everton's U21 duo Luke Garbutt and Tyias Browning both featured in England's 1-1 draw with South Korea in the Toulon Tournament.

Garbutt played the full 80 minutes for the first time in the tournament while Browning, ever-present over the first two matches, came on for the last 13 minutes.

England have one game remaining against Colombia.
