Martinez loses World Cup accreditation

Roberto Martinez has had his accreditation for the World Cup withdrawn after he allowed someone else to use his FIFA pass to attend a Netherlands training session.

Martinez is in Rio de Janeiro for the tournament working as a studio analyst and expert summariser for ESPN's United States arm but has also been attending Dutch training at the invitation of fellow pundit, Rudd van Nistelrooy.

Reports suggest that he has been using to opportunity to scout players like Stefan de Vrij and Jeremain Lens.

His FIFA pass is strictly non-transferable and the faux pas means he will only be able to be involved with the World Cup in ESPN's studios.
