Everton's 'family' feud over lack of funding in transfers and Goodison Park

It’s quite refreshing to know the club don’t have EVERY sports hack in their arse pocket when it comes to reporting recent events.

The trouble is, we know we are facing a massive fall from grace if we don’t manage to deliver either a redeveloped Goodison, or a new stadium. The massive hike in TV money has flattened the playing field for the also-rans such as Stoke, WBA and Swansea (no disrespect meant) but we used to be a far more attractive proposition than these clubs.

The board’s refusal to bring new blood into the boardroom, sell, or dilute their shareholding has left us with an entrenched triumvirate of directors, who seem to be stuck in the '80s without any direction. It used to be all about matters on the pitch, not any more.

It’s a depressing state of affairs, which will eventually end badly for both the fans and the current directors, I feel. The music will stop and we’ll be left without a chair, unless the board have an epiphany and realise they aren’t the people to take us forward. I wouldn’t bet on that outcome for one moment though.

A hundred disgruntled fans? I'm surprised it's that many.

I think the spending on new players that is happening now will severely deflate the main myth but I'm sure there'll still be something to whine about.

On this point, I think spending the money now will deflate nothing as it is like getting blood from a stone and not many are happy we operate this way.

Oh dear, Martin... you don’t really know what's happening at all. If you think what's happening is down to less than 100 fans, you really are disillusioned.

Like me, this is all getting old now but if BK is as ill as they say and 70ish the time for change may be looming anyway in spite of the aeroplanes and Martin Mason’s of the world.

I’ve posted on TW for 6 years and have wanted BK and his leeching so-called ’friends of Everton’ out for even longer.

To move forward as a club, we need this shower out.

But I suspect this bunch of self-serving beauts have no intention of doing the decent thing and fucking off until we have a new stadium so they can charge more.

And with 3 ground move failures already, god knows when that will be.

Just a quick one here, I'm new to all this posting malarkey so bear with me. I have over the past few months seen plenty of comments and arguments with regards to people's views on the current board; I can understand why people are feeling let down and strung along by the board.

What I wanted to get across is my feelings on this, and that is Bill has done a good job with what's available to him without sending the club they way of Portsmouth a few seasons ago. All these protests and planes flying across are not going to help in any way. A prospective buyer is going to look at that and think to himself, "I don't need that; think I will find another club to invest in."

We need investment urgently, I agree, but with regards to playing talent, I believe we only need a couple of additions for the short-term as we have some amazing talent now coming through the ranks. Just because another club has spent £70 million doesn't mean we need to.

With regards to the same questions I see almost daily "Where's the money, Bill?", the money is there but he is taking on his manager's view also having one eye on this new stadium at Walton Hall Park, that requires money. Not just for the building, it costs quite a bit for planning, consultation, lawyers, blah blah blah.

There is a lot more than we all see, I have faith that we will be sold to the RIGHT BUYER, but in the meantime Bill is doing all he can to keep the club solvent and competitive within the Premier League. I do not want this great club of ours dropping down into the Football League and, with Bill in charge, it won't.

Before anyone asks, I am not employed by the club in any way shape or form. I am a regular at home match days when I can afford the 500-mile round trip.

I was optimistic that this season could not be worse than last on the field as the manager must have learned from his mistakes but was soon disappointed with the pre-season displays and the first game at Watford.

Then we have a game at Southampton that ’makes your heart go whooaa’ as they say. So I think we are on a roller-coaster ride for this season on the field.

Off the field, though, I’m not so optimistic with the trend in the finances being increasing debt and increasing borrowing. And I have no faith in our board to deliver a new owner with the best interests of the Club at heart rather than in the best interests of Earl and Green.

Welcome to the pleasuredome, Stuart. Strap your tin-hat on and get ready for the abuse. As a newcomer you might expect mild accusations of naivety but defend yourself and it will whip up a storm.

Regarding earlier posts and posts in other threads, I’d sum the position up as this. Many Evertonians were unhappy with the performances last season. Some of those had been unhappy with the appointment of Roberto Martinez, some of those had been unhappy with the continued tenure of David Moyes and Bill Kenwright. Some of those post regularly on here to tell everyone that’s the case: I suspect you’ll hear from them real soon.

With regard to the size of the groups prepared to go public in their disgruntlement (ie, more than booing at the end of the game and at half-time) those are small. Meetings take place in smallish venues, though they are well attended, and the protest march of a couple of years ago hardly managed to slow my passage down Goodison Road.

Before I get battered by the pedants and asked to define 'small', the Taxi Club and the Casa were too small for my 60th birthday do and more attended than were on the march. And I am not the most popular man on the planet (marginally less so after this I suspect) though the ale was free.

Don’t know how much it costs to fly a banner but I’d sooner "JOSE - GROW YOUR OWN STONES" was flying over Stamford Bridge.

I would not call it a feud... Just two separate opinions: one that is still taken in by the years of mistruths; and one that isn’t

I think Roberto is getting together a decent young squad by slowly replacing the ageing players left to him. That isn't going to happen overnight but the signs are to me that he is getting there. Hopefully we can keep them.

That will be hard though, not because the club has to sell for financial reasons but more because a good young player will want to join a top club.

I think the improving financial position is due solely to the amount of TV money we get. Yep Kenwright lets his Managers manage, why shouldn't he? If we do well he bathes in the reflected glory. If we don't the manager gets it in the neck.

The major reason I see why more fans are becoming more antagonistic to this Board, is that we are slip sliding behind other clubs and there doesn't appear to be any plan to stop it.

Good on you Stuart for coming such a long distance to watch and you've probably said what a lot of supporters feel, that Bill kenwright isn't doingh such a bad job, he backs the manger, he's a Blue, heart's in the right place and we're looking to move to a new stadium in Wally Hall Park.

Well, to me, he's like the kid in Last Action Hero, visiting a crumbling old Picture House where he can live his dream.

After seeing two failed ground moves, and especially the performance of the Board, vocalised by Kenwright in support of the move, more fans began questioning what did the future hold for Everton.

If you look at our old ground now, it's not so much the "Grand Old Lady" It's getting more and more like that old picture house.

There's an article from the Liverpool Echo, written by Joe Beardwood,on ToffeeWeb and he gives a good account of where this club stands.

He suggests that re developing the ground makes more sense than funding (or hoping someone else will) a new ground.

What is the future for EFC, To me, it isn't solely based on the doings on the pitch, it's also about our home, and what sort of plan, if any, is there to ensure we modernise it.

I am finding it hard to to understand when some posters say that the protesting and banners etc aren’t/won’t help things at all. They already have helped. Helped if you feel that 16 years of stagnation and all BK’s soundbites and lies are now, FINALLY, getting some air time.

We are in the news for the wrong reasons but I am happy to see the Board of Kenwright under the microscope. Change is needed. Doing nothing doesn’t make things happen.

When will some people wake up? He has done his best, god love him, but his best if very far from good enough...

The protest is starting to work.

It’s a media battle now and we need to keep the pressure up. Good articles like Simon’s will only help.

We fly a plane, get coverage. The club starts it propaganda articles and some knowledgeable fans write articles in reputable (as they get) papers, sticking to the facts.

We fly another plane. More pressure. More coverage.

Arguments like Martin's only go to solidify the Board Out argument, as most rational people see the many contradictions!
