I think we are all in agreement.
It was a disaster.
Are we better off, absolutely not and isn't that's what the window is for to improve the squad.

We now have a plethora of midfielders but a lack of diversity in the striker situation.

Barry will be running around like a headless chicken chasing shadows. It's not his fault.

Sure he will find the net now and again but where else will they come from except from the free kicks that Grealish may win now and then.

Unless George or KDH become support up front it seems Moyes will be obliged to use the same conservative tactics he has used for years.

At this stage we cannot expect any change to the negativity that Moyes employs but it's not all his fault with the dilatory board we have.
Okay we needed to release McNeil but did we need another winger who doesn't find the net.

George could conceivably be a target man to help Barry as he has a lot of skill but would need the right coaching which would take time.

I am not really sure the next window will produce any better handling by the board than this last one.

The next game against Manure will be a real test and our record at this new stadium is not good.

I like Barry, if he doesnt get injured, (everything crossed) he will do a good job. On the whole its a good team. I suspect however we will be looking closely at some of our younger players to step up.

I'm no lover of Moyes and his dour tactics.

This will play right into his mindset of negative football, but on the other hand...he hasn't been given the tools to prove otherwise.

O.K. Guys & Gals time to let it go, it happened, it was incompetence of the highest order, but there's nothing to be gained by cultivating a toxic atmosphere around Hill Dickinson & the club in general. Draw a line ( but never forget) and get behind the players who are here, starting Sunday.

I think every fan is drained, after everything we went through, the struggle when we were dedicated points under Dyche, and trying to bring in players with no money upfront, this is a new low.

The whole saga is a mess but what worries me is our valuations. No one at the club has challenged the stated fact that we offered £35m for Richarlison who has 10 months on his contract! The turks have offered £8.6m. Meanwhile city fans are calling £65m for Illy a steal and its 20m light of what he is worth with 3yrs on his contract. Meanwhile some of our targets are signing for hull and Sunderland before us. How come?

What was heading towards an OK window- nothing exciting, and you only need to read the Esk's article to know how to manage your expectations- turned into a 100% shit show in the last few days. We were indeed all over the place, the smell of panic and incompetence was strong. Kinnear should be considering his options. The owners need an education in football.

But as Edward 4 says, we have to move on. With a squad this threadbare, forget about cups or a European challenge. If the Friedkins feel this window buys them that, they need sectioning. We will be lower mid table with a bit of luck and you will be happy.

The one upside is that Moyes, whatever we might think of his long term suitability, is just about the best guy out there to instil a backs to the wall mentality and work with a tiny squad.

I think we'll need a new manager next season but forget Howe. He resigned on the back of a transfer budget that dwarves what our pathetic little club will fund.

It's always been in Everton's DNA to play a target man up top; if Barry gets injured, we are going to be fucked.

It's easy to say play George there or Johnson but the way we play dictates a certain type of forward we can choose from, it won't be worth sending high crosses in from the byline.

We will need to play through the middle with incisive passes along the grass.

Kinnear is pissed off that Moyes didn't play any of the youngsters he bought for him, especially that ridiculously expensive one. So Kinnear looks a fool so sabotages the window, leaving only a small core of Moyes players, and forcing him to have to play half a dozen youngsters.

If the difference between a B+ window and shit show was Balogun and Beto, then things really do need to be put into perspective.

Seems to me like we've dodged a bullet in Balogun. We definitely did with Zirkzee; his record is awful. We should have held on to Beto, yes, but let's not forget that he was... rubbish.

I'm sure that we can get through to January in reasonable shape. We might even see a side that's set up slightly differently.

Zinchenko is the only free agent I'd be keen for us to go in for. He's been a target of ours for some time and would provide some depth at full-back.

Danny, with respect, there are 17 fit outfield players now before a ball has really been kicked.

Norgaard appears to be ruled out for 3 months.

The club will inevitably pick up injuries and suspensions by using the same group over and over again. When other teams can utilise 25-man squads, and dump 5 subs with impact, we will be lucky to have a functioning 11 by December.

There were training sessions last year where we had under 14 players. And our squad last year had 3 more players.

There will be no fairytale. This is endurance, elite sport, where the weakest get picked off.

I agree, the size of the squad is an issue, Ian, but my point was that it seemed to me on Monday that we'd have considered the window to have been a success had we gotten the Balogun deal over the line.

Is one unspectacular and most likely overvalued striker really the difference between a positive outcome and all the doom and gloom we're seeing in the aftermath of the window closing?

Iroegbunam, Patterson and Anzou weren't playing, and the latter can presumably be recalled if needed.

Andrew, I'd say the sentiment was fairly positive until the news about the medical came through.

I think people were desperately trying to be positive, Danny, and this just knocked the wind out of most of us.

Bringing Balogun in would just have papered over a whole load of cracks and I don't think he's the saviour some think he might have been.

Antonio ex West Ham still a free agent. Moyesie knows him well.

Well there we are again & again. Groundhog day. Its passed so whats the outlook. From a financial view TFG have left us in a good position in regard to cash flow & SCR. Football view much less rosy. How so - a small squad & a long season ahead. Gaps in key positions. Older players filling those gaps. Deflated squad perhaps. An aging & usually negative manager. A management system which would not last 5 mins in a well run private enterprise. A largely absent owner whise only interest is to maintain the value of his investment with the lowest investment. The realisation that Everton are despite our history & magnificent ground a team that just makes up the numbers in the PL. No longer able to compete with the majority of the clubs in that league in terms of finance & players. All makes for gloomy reading for us fans.
What to be done - this is almost certainly blue sky & not without pitfalls but here goes. Owners - it is time for them to cash their investment in. They should in theory make a good profit. That allows them to focus on Roma & their new ground plans. Meeting future SCR rules, the investment required to get us up the table & desire are just not there. New owners - 64 million dollar question. Will they be worse or better? We all know the risks. However in our position I believe we need to try. Management structure - needs to go. The committee just doesn't work in practice. The academy changes seem on paper to be beneficial so time will tell. My view is go back to the best DOF that we can find that is willing to work with us & develop an effective scouting system. 1st team coach - DM needs to leave. Thanks for what you have done for us but its time change tack. 2 names seem reasonable to me. Howe & McKenna. Youngish managers who want to play attractive football. Both are available?? Finances permitting. Playing staff - we cant afford to spend the current player financial values. Those players don't want go to come to us. Where to go. Effective scouting. I live in France. There are many good players here. Spanish, Portugese, Nordic & E Europe are all fertile hunting grounds. Not all will be successful but there is opportunity. Focus on younger players with potential sell on. We have to accept that we will be a buy to sell club. Nearly all are. 1 sell at high value each season changes the landscape. Keep developing the academy. The current under 21s may not be the best but we seem to have more promise in the younger age groups. In addition try harder to keep the best out of the top team mits. Not easy I know. Ground - continue to develop a Everton identity. Its our saving grace after all. Anyway just some views from an unhappy fan. However there is hope but it requires a lot of effort & ambition.

Danny (21, 23 and 25) what sort of poll were you running to get that impression? Why are you now so keen to pour oil on troubled water?

I suspect the vast majority were, just like I was, largely silent on the subject of assessing the transfer window as a whole until it did actually close. We were given clear assurances that things were planned to be delivered -- even if it meant going right up to the last minute of the final day.

What was ultimately delivered was too many outgoings and not enough incomings.

I'm certainly not pleased Aznou has gone out on loan and think it may take more than the click of fingers to bring him back. Add in the fact that Jake O'Brien appears to have been unsettled by the internal conversations that followed his expression of his earnest desire to be used in his much preferred position, and I think we potentially have been left both under-resourced and demotivated.

What's your issue with Balogun? Are you judging him on his sense of self-preservation or have you perhaps studied him as a player? Some players just need the right set-up to flourish so to write him off without seeing him have a go in ours seems very presumptuous.

Every supporter I Know was disgusted weeks ago at our failure to identify and get a decent RB and a goalscorer of the quality a club like Everton need.

We were all asked to be patient by out lying and incompetent CEO who assured us we would get the quality RB we had been tracking for a long time.

The bullshit and incompetence in the boardroon ranks right up there with Kenwright and Moshiri's worst moments.

It was reported yesterday we weren't looking for free agents, now we are supposed to be. We definitely need a couple bodies in, as long as they have two legs sign them up. That's an exaggeration but you know what I mean, for a Premiership club to end up how we have is unbelievable.
Beto was slagged off a lot on here but playing him and Barry for each game worked OK, they managed 17 goals between them last season that wasn't bad,
I think they would have got more this season with likely better service. If one got injured you still had the other, anyway that's water under the bridge it ain't going to happen again now.

Jamie Vardy for me on a short term contract (maybe until Jan if possible)

Obviously age is a factor but he scored 7 goals in Serie A last year in a poor team. I'm sure he'd be able to be an impact sub for a few months and would be the type to get a connect with the fans

Not something I would have said before Tuesday, but we desperately need 2 players to fill out the squad imo.
