Was Pennington hurt, or is Martinez saving him for tomorrow? Why were Walsh and Ledson substituted?

Pennington was injured and the other two were simply poor. We were awful all round and should have lost by more being honest. United side was young and inexperienced too so that excuse won’t work.

No cutting edge and defending was awful. Henen will never cut it at Everton. Absolutely miles off the standard required.

Really let down by Ledson and Kenny. Poor in front of lower division teams’ managers in the crowd who could have taken them on loan.

Thanks, Neil. I'm surprised Ledson is not pushing,. Walsh will come good. I agree with you about Henen; I never saw him tonight obviously, but have seen him in the past.

How bad was Kenny, Neil? Was hoping he'd picked something up from his loan spell, at least he got an assist. I do try and keep in mind they are barely 18 most of them but this is the time to start getting noticed.

Not the best of reports from Neil but hopefully it was just a bad day at the office.

More so that the team I’d be more than happy with a few individuals to push for squad places.

Also I’m starting to wonder about Ledson, has he missed the boat already at 18?

They were 3-0 down before they got going. I didn’t see much to enthuse about to be honest. Connor Grant looked half decent but can’t see anyone else troubling the first team squad. However, in our defence, Holgate, Galloway, Browning, Rodriguez were all missing – presumably involved in the squad for tonight’s game at Reading – and several other prospects are out on loan.

And to be fair, although Man Utd were better, I didn’t see many players breaking through from their ranks either – but then they buy their squad don’t they?

I wondered why Rodriguez was such a late starter. It seems his dad, a dentist wouldn’t let him turn professional until he had a proper education, so his professional career didn’t start until he was 19.

I hope he gets some time on the field tonight.
