Galloway a doubt again for England U21s

Brendan Galloway's hopes of making his debut at Under-21 level for his country rest on the severity of a knock he has picked up.

The young defender played the full 90 minutes of Everton's 1-1 draw at Upton Park but apparently needs a scan on an unspecified muscle injury which he may have picked up in that game.

England U21s boss explained that Galloway will be assessed by the medical staff at St George's Park before a decision is made on whether he will be fit to face Bosnia-Herzegovina and Switzerland in the 2017 U21 European Championship qualifiers on Thursday and Monday respectively.

"Brendan is being assessed now, he is with us," U21s manager Gareth Southgate said. "It's a muscular injury but we don't want to take any chances. Maybe he is okay for Thursday, maybe he is okay for Monday. We don't know."

This is Galloway's third call-up by England U21s but injury prevented him from making his bow on both previous occasions.

Once he is okay for Villa on Saturday week, who cares!
