Roberto Martinez has his eye on Spanish winger Diego Capel amid uncertainty over the future of Kevin Mirallas.

That's the claim in the Liverpool Echpo who suggest that Everton have instructed scout Kevin Reeves to "scour the European markets for left-footed wingers" in case Mirallas moves on before the transfer window and Capel is apparently high on the list of candidates.

The 27-year-old spent a year in Barcelona's youth academy before joining Sevilla's setup where he eventually broke through and made 126 league appearances over seven years during which time he was capped twice by Spain.

He moved to Lisbon in a €3.5 million in 2011 and the hefty €30 million release clause that was written into the deal was an indication of the faith Sporting had in him, although it's assumed such that clause would not still apply.

Mirallas has made noises about wanting Champions League football but a link with Fenerbahçe has been quashed this week and his only other suitor has been West Ham whose miserly £6m offer was rejected by Everton who have invoked the optional extra year on the Belgian's contract.
