Approach for Napoli defender reported
Gazetta dello Sport make brief mention of the Serie A club receiving an offer for the 24-year-old Frenchman from the Blues, although they don't specify how much.
A versatile player who can operate at right back and defensive midfield as well as at centre-half, Koulibaly has only been in Naples for a year after moving from Genk last summer.
He played 14 times in all competitions for Napoli last season and scored once but while he played fewer games than reputed Blues target Angelo Ogbonna, he was statistically more effective.
Compared to the Italian, Koulibaly was more like Ogbonna's more highly-rated team-mate Leonardo Bonucci, managing more tackles and interceptions per game earning a higher Whoscored.com overall rating, but he committed significantly more fouls per match.
Update The player's agent has poured cold water on the link, however, and told Tuttomercatoweb that he is unaware of any bid from Everton.
“We don’t know anything about interest from Everton,” Bruno Satin said. “He hasn’t asked to leave, he’s played in the first few friendlies and is 100 per cent with the Partonopei project.
“For a player of his age and value, interest will always exist, but everything comes down to the club wanting to sell a player and he player wanting to leave.
“In the case of Kalidou, there is no such desire and the club also wants to keep him.”
