Everton are eyeing 20-year-old defender Jack Hendry who recently made his first-team debut for the Scottish Premier League outfit.

The Daily Record claim that Roberto Martinez has sent scouts to watch Hendry and the Blues subsequently invited him down for a trial at Finch Farm.

Hendry's new-found first-team commitments at Fir Park mean that has hasn't been able to make the trip to Merseyside, however.

"There’s a wee bit of interest from Everton and it was from before he came on the scene on Saturday," Partick boss Alan Archibald explained.

“Jack was supposed to go down for a few days but couldn’t because he’s now part of our plans.

He’s been in with us all week, leading up to this game. He ticks a lot of boxes. He’s good on the ball and he has good recovery pace. He has the stature at 6ft-plus and has still to fill out a little bit.

“He’s not going down at the moment but I don’t want to stand in his way. We only signed him last year after he’d been released by Peterborough so it wasn’t fair to say he couldn’t go down.

“That was the plan but for the moment there has been no more contact.”
