One target stays put, one goes elsewhere

Everton's proposed move for Andriy Yarmolenko appears to completely off now while Juan Iturbe, a supposed target linked earlier this week, is set to join Genoa on loan.

Yarmolenko looked set to join the Blues late last week in a 14.25m deal but negotiations stalled when Dynamo Kiev owner Igor Surkis requested more time to mull the situation over.

Everton were reported to have pulled out of the deal at that point and the latest suggestions from Ukraine are that Surkis is looking to keep the 25-year-old until the January transfer window at least so that he can help Dynamo get out of the Champions League group stage.

The Blues are likely to still be in the hunt come the winter window but will surely face more competition for a player who will be out of contract next summer. Barcelona are said to be interested in Yarmolenko, although the player has dismissed those rumours this week.

There have been suggestions that Everton had a "pre-agreement" to sign Yarmolenko and that Kiev would honour it if there was no offer from Barça but the comments from both owner and player alike indicate that everything is off and that the forward will stay put.

Iturbe, meanwhile, was believed to be a target for Everton and West Ham but Genoa have stepped into give the player what he apparently wants namely, to stay in Serie A.
