Everton reject PSG bid of £20m for Coleman?
Reports that Everton have turned down a £20m offer from Paris St-Germain for right-back Seamus Coleman may (predictably have have been wide of the mark.
talkSPORT and the Daily Star were the first to claim that the French champions were keen on landing the Ireland international and the latter paper even carried quotes from an Everton spokesman that suggested there was some legitimacy to the reports:
"There seems no chance of Seamus being sold to Paris Saint-Germain," the source is reported by the Star to have said.
"Perhaps they thought their financial muscle could see a deal done, but the initial bid was turned down straight away and it was made clear that a second one, no matter how big, would also be rejected."
If true, it is the second example this summer of the Everton board's determination to retain the services of the club's best players following the repulsion of Chelsea's efforts to sign John Stones.
ESPN's sources have rejected the idea that PSG even lodged a bid, however.
