Echo: Blues failed to revive Yarmolenko deal

Everton went back to the negotiating table to try and hammer out a deal with Dynamo Kiev for Andriy Yarmolenko but found that the Ukrainian club wanted more money.

That's the claim of the Liverpool Echo's Phil Kirkbride who reports that the Blues made a list-ditch attempt to revive the deal and were prepared to meet the 25-year-old's €20m release clause but Kiev supremo Igor Surkis quoted a higher price.

Sources in Ukraine are adamant that Yarmolenko doesn't have a release clause in his contract while Surkis claims that, despite reports suggesting he agreed a fee with the Blues, Everton's bid came too late in the window.

Most likely, he felt like he didn't want to lose such an important player for Kiev's Champions League campaign where they have a historic opportunity to get out of the group stages.

Everton will likely revisit their interest for the wide man in January when Surkis says he wouldn't stand in Yarmolenko's way but the Blues would likely face much more competition for a player six months away from the end of his contract.
