Yarmolenko's agent sparks fresh speculation on social media
Vadim Shabliy posted the picture of himself standing in an almost empty Goodison Park to the social networking site earlier today, although the geotag of "Kyiv, Ukraine" could be a clue to the fact that the image might not have been taken recently.
Yarmolenko reportedly came close to signing for the Blues in August after a deal worth £14.25m was agreed with Dynamo Kiev, only for negotiations to collapse amid speculation that the Ukraine club's own, Igor Surkis, had changed his mind about letting his best player leave before their Champions League campaign got underway.
It is not known for sure whether Shabliy travelled to Merseyside during the transfer negotiations this summer (the player is also represented by "super-agent" Mino Raiola) but that could be a likely explanation for the photograph if there are no fresh talks being held at the moment. Yarmolenko apparently had a different agent when he played at Goodison himself in Kiev's Europa League clash with Everton in March.
Depending on whether or not Dynamo qualify for the second phase of the Champions League, Yarmolenko could become available again in January for a lower fee than the one agreed with Everton during the last transfer window.
Barcelona have been mentioned as potential suitors for the 25-year-old, perhaps on a free transfer when his contract expires next summer, although Roberto Martinez could explore a deal when the winter window opens.
16 Oct Update Yarmolenko has signed a new five-year contract with Dynamo Kiev, openly admitting that it would be to ensure that the club get his full transfer value rather than him leaving at a reduced price in January or for free next summer.
