Rumour roundup: Galloway, Stones, Honda, Piccini, Ranocchia and Yarmolenko

Newspapers and websites of various stripes and credibility have been busy over the past few days linking Everton with deals involving incoming and outgoing players.

The mischief-making over John Stones continues, with tabloid reports over the weekend suggesting that Chelsea will return in January with a £36m offer for John Stones as they attempt to sort out their defensive problems with a move for the Blues star they failed to land in August.

The fact that unconfirmed reports claimed that Jose Mourinho and company had had a final £38m offer knocked back close to or on transfer deadline day means that this latest figure is unlikely to cause a ripple at Goodison Park, particularly mid-season.

As if that weren't lazy and obvious enough "journalism", The Mirror have floated a report that Manchester United are eyeing a move for Brendan Galloway who is emerging as an equally impressive defender as his slightly older team-mate, Stones.

With the rumoured defensive outgoings, reports continue to bubble away in Italy concerning a potential move by Martinez for Inter Milan's Andrea Ranocchia who is also wanted by AS Roma, while Real Betis's Cristiano Piccini is the latest name to be linked with a move to the Blues.

Keisuke Honda, a regular where it comes to Everton-related transfer stories, is being mooted as a Martinez target once more, this time by The Express. They say the Blues will battle it out with Tottenham for the Japan international's signature.

Finally, Andriy Yarmolenko continues to be talked about, with Barcelona still said to be interested, Everton still on the mix, and now Chelsea supposedly taking a look at the Ukrainian star. With his contract expiring next summer, the Dynamo Kiev forward would be available to sign a pre-contract agreement with interested clubs or move in a cut-price transfer in January.
