According to an Italian transfer gossip site, Chelsea have lined up Seamus Coleman as a replacement for Branislav Ivanovic, one of their many out-of-form players, as Jose Mourinho tries to turn around the struggling Champions' season.

Tuttomercatoweb are claiming in an "exclusive" that, "contacts are advanced, Coleman is one step away from Chelsea. White smoke expected in the next days. And Everton, now, will go hunting for a replacement."

The Londoners have gone into a stunning tailspin of form in their defence of their latest title and Mourinho's job is on the line as they hover above the relegation zone. It would not be a surprise if he dipped into the transfer market next month but, by the same token, although every target would likely be closely vetted by Roman Abramovich.

Coleman has been linked with top clubs for years but no move has ever come off and he remains the Blues' first-choice right back. Furthermore, Roberto Martinez has announced this week that none of his top players will be going anywhere in January.
