The 20-year-old had his 2015-16 campaign wrecked by a cruciate knee ligament injury in August but he is expected to return to action next month when the Blues' scouts will monitor his progress before weighing up whether to proceed with a £10m bid.

The same report also suggests that Roberto Martinez is eyeing Empoli left back Mario Rui after being handed pole position in the "race" to land the 24-year-old Portuguese by Atletico Madrid's two-year transfer embargo.
