Everton bid for Sporting striker

MailOnline say that Everton had scouts in the stands watching the 27-year-old and that Sporting claim the Blues made tentative enquiries about his availability.

Slimani has a strike-rate of a goal every two games for his country and has bettered that ratio in Portugal over the past three years with 36 goals in 65 league appearances for Sporting.

Nevertheless, the report suggests that his consistency has been questioned and also claims he has a £22.5m release clause in his contract.

Update FranceFootball are claiming that Everton have submitted an offer of €18m (£13.7m) for Slimani but that it has been rejected by the Portuguese club.
