The 25-year-old currently plays for Emelec where he has scored 60 times in 96 appearances and caught the attention of clubs hoping to snap up the next Antonio, Enner Valencia or Jefferson Montero.

Bolanos can apparently play as a winger or a striker, just how Martinez likes his forwards.

Update The speculation has been lent more credence by the fact that Ecuadorian sport reporter Maria Jose Flores, reputed to be Bolanos' girlfriend, tagged @Everton in a tweet with an aeroplane emoji and a football, suggesting that she was on flying in to visit the club.
