Howard pricing himself out of MLS move

Speculation that Tim Howard could return to the USA in May to play for Colorado Rapids has been rife for the past few weeks but a report suggests his wage demands could scupper the move.

In a story that appears to have its dubious origins in The S*n, Howard is supposedly looking for a four-year contract worth £14m which amounts to around £67,000 a week. That could prove too rich for Colorado, the club best placed to sign him at the end of this season.

Howard had indicated when he signed a new contract at Everton two years ago that it was intention to retire after the 2018 World Cup but a deal of the length proposed in this latest story would take him to his 40th birthday.
