Everton sound out Bielsa as Martinez's replacement

Updated Everton have made contact with former Marseille manager Marcelo Bielsa about taking over the managerial role at Goodison Park as Roberto Martinez's tenure continues to go south.

That's according to a report in the South American edition of Goal.com who claim that Bielsa was receptive to the idea having previously made clear his desire to manage in the Premier League.

The 60-year-old Argentine, linked recently with Swansea City's recent vacancy but overlooked partly because he doesn't speak English, has apparently turned down the opportunity to manage again at international level in order to fulfill his dream of coaching in England.

Goal have a highly dubious track record for believability when it comes to European transfer stories and it's not clear if their version for the Americas is any better.

Regardless, the Liverpool Echo report that, not surprisingly, there isn't any substance to this story, one they believe that has come from people "close to Bielsa".
