Klinsmann 'tipped' for Everton post

In a somewhat "out of left field" development, Jà¼rgen Klinsmann has been mooted as a potential successor to Roberto Martinez at Everton.

A tweet by commentator Ian Darke earlier today citing "persistent rumours on Merseyside" suggested that the Blues are looking at the former Tottenham striker and Germany coach as their next manager.

As the first-choice commentator for the US national team's matches, Darke has close contact with the USMNT camp which would suggest he has better sources than most but the whispers in Liverpool that he refers to regarding Klinsmann come as news to Evertonians.

Klinsmann, who lasted just a year at the helm of Bayern Munich, hasn't been enjoying a much better time of it with the USA than Martinez has at Everton this season, with the German's future under heavy discussion following a poor run of results since the 2014 World Cup.

For his part, Klinsmann scotched the rumours with a tweet of his own later in the day, saying that there was no truth in the rumours and that Everton have a 'fantastic' manafer in Martinez.
