Löw tipped for Goodison hotseat

Joachim Là¶w is the latest manager to be mentioned as a potential successor to Roberto Martinez should Everton decide the Catalan's time is up as manager this summer.

It smacks of low-hanging fruit for a Sunday tabloid story following Betfair's revelation on Friday that odds on the 52-year-old moving to Goodison Park had plummeted from 33/1 to 2/1 but it's The Mirror's claim that Là¶w could use a clause in his contract with the German football federation to take up the post.

The report suggests that Là¶w would prefer to move to a Champions League club or one that was close to it with money to spend on transfers.

A middling, journeyman club manager prior to joining the German national team as assistant manager under Jà¼rgen Klinsmann, Là¶w has, of course, made a big name for himself as his country's head coach lifting the 2014 World Cup, making the Euro 2008 final and the last four of the 2012 European Championships and the 2010 World Cup.

Of course, unless or until Martinez is actually dismissed, this is just paper talk.
