Pellegrini interested in potential Everton vacancy

Manuel Pellegrini is believed to be keen to stay in England after he leaves Manchester City at the end of the season and has, according to a report, told friends he would be keen on managing Everton if Roberto Martinez is sacked.

The claim is made by Ian Ladyman for MailOnline who suggests that the Chilean sees the Toffees as a club with "huge potential" along the lines of his former teams Malaga and Villarreal.

Pellegrini is also said to be settled living in Cheshire with his wife.

There has been silence from Everton's board over Martinez's future as results have worsened as 2016 has worn on but all the evidence is that the majority of supporters feel his time is up and that a decision should be announced either before or after the last match of the season against Norwich on Sunday.

Meanwhile, there have been rumours on social media that Everton's new major shareholder, Farhad Moshiri, has held talks with representatives of Jose Mourinho about the possibility of succeeding Martinez but it is not clear if there is any substance to the whispers.
