Everton put high valuation on Funes Mori

Everton are hoping to ward off interest in Ramiro Funes Mori by slapping a high price tag on him.

According to his agent, the Blues have told reportedly interested parties like Lazio that they will have to pay £25m if they want to try and tempt the Argentine defender away less than a year after he moved to Goodison Park.

Funes Mori was signed from relative obscurity at River Plate by Roberto Martinez last August in a deal that was eventually worth £9.5m after taxes and contract clauses were dealt with and while he settled well, he was not immune to the defensive lapses that plagued Everton's difficult 2015-16 campaign.

The player has been linked with a move to La Liga in recent months on the back of his best form in a Royal Blue jersey but Everton seem keen to keep him for the rebuilding job that will be required under Martinez's replacement.

His representative, Jorge Cyterszpiler, said: “Lazio are a great club, but Everton do not want to sell and evaluates him more than 30 million.

“But football is strange, anything can happen, he is among the best left-handed centre-backs in the world at the time.”
