Emery 'interested' while Blues vet Pellegrini

As Everton's search for a manager continues, the Sunday newspapers are making fresh claims about potential candidates.

Either echoing or picking up corresponding rumours posted on social media earlier this week, the Daily Star report that Unai Emery has been "sounded out" by the Blues' board and has offered them his own expectations to see if they can match his ambitions.

The suggestion is that while the 44-year-old has expressed his interest in the position, he isn't thought to be in any hurry to make any decisions over his future.

AC Milan have been credited with interest in Emery's services but Sevilla president Jose Castro has already outlined his confidence that his head coach won't be going anywhere. The Star article posits that it could cost Everton around £3m in compensation to prise the Spaniard away from his current club.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail are reporting that Farhad Moshiri is undertaking "due diligence" on Manuel Pellegrini, talking to Manchester City "insiders" to gauge the Chilean's behind-the-scenes management style.

The report suggests that Moshiri is looking for a strong character to shake up Everton's underperforming squad but Pellegrini's public avuncular demeanour wouldn't seem to fit the bill.

Frank de Boer is mentioned once again and the Mail's article also makes reference to the fact that David Unsworth has met with the board to get his take on the club's future.
