Spanish giants concede defeat to City in Stones chase

They claim that the 22-year-old's agent, Paul Martin, visited the Catalonian city last week to discuss the possibility of him moving to the Nou Camp but he is now convinced that Stones should join Manchester City.

No fee is mentioned but with Chelsea having failed with a £38m bid for him last August, his value has surely risen above the £40m mark, a fee that City could comfortably afford.

There have been rumours on Merseyside that Everton could be interested in doing a deal with City for the defender for whom they paid just £3m two-and-a-half years ago but they have not yet been corroborated.
