The claim is made by SportItalia who report that the French side want £17m for the 23-year-old who has scored 24 goals in 84 league appearances since joining them from Defensor Sporting for £2.5million three years ago.

Ronald Koeman is supposedly on the lookout for another striker after seeing Graziano Pellਠmake a money-spinning move to the Chinese league.

Born in Montevideo, Rolan is a Uruguay international with 17 caps and three goals.

update Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla has tweeted that while Bordeaux have dropped their asking price for Rolan to €18m from €20m following the aforementioned meeting between the two clubs, Everton are only prepared to go as high as €15m.
