Chelsea lodge €60m offer for Lukaku

Chelsea have supposedly followed up their interest in taking Romelu Lukaku back by lodging a £50m bid.

Fresh from the fertile source of transfer rumours that is Sky Italia's Gianluca diMarzio come reports that the Londoners are prepared to pay £22m more than they sold the Belgian striker for in July 2014.

Lukaku has publicly stated his desire to join a club that can either offer him Champions League football come next month or one that is "a big project". Chelsea won't be able to provide him the former until next season at the earliest but with them being his ex-club and boyhood club, he would probably be prepared to take the gamble.

Everton don't have any need to sell the 23-year-old but, assuming their is any truth to these reports, Ronald Koeman would have to weigh up the merits of keeping a potentially unsettled player at Goodison Park.

Antonio Conte appeared to have turned his attentions away from Lukaku when he signed his international team-mate Michy Batshuayi in a £30m deal earlier this summer but with Diego Costa linked with a return to Spain, the new Chelsea boss could be looking to pair the two Belgians up front at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, reports elsewhere (including the Mail) suggest Chelsea are kenenr on Alvaro Morata who is apparently available on loan after rejoining Real Madrid from Juventus.
