Everton lodge £9m Fonte bid

According to the Daily Record, the Portuguese defender has yet to be informed of Blues' offer but Ronald Koeman is looking to bring him north to Merseyside to bolster his defence.

Everton are also being linked with Ashley Williams who will also be 32 next month, although Swansea City and media sources closer to the Welsh club have denied the story, while Porto's Bruno Martins Indi is also being talked about again as a Koeman target.

Fonte came up with the Saints to the Premier League and is now a European Championship winner with Portugal.
