Everton have reportedly given a take-it-or-leave it ultimatum of their own to the Manchester side who continue to pursue a deal for John Stones.

City's new manager Pep Guardiola has publicly acknowledged his desire to sign Stones, something that what was, in any case, an open secret, at the same time as he was pursuing Leroy Sane from Schalke.

With Sane now confirmed as a £37m capture, attentions are turning back to Everton's prized defender but the Blues have stood firm despite a reported bid of £40m.

Stones has apparently communicated to Everton his desire to join City but Sky Sports now claim based on their sources that the message from Goodison Park to the Etihad is clear: pay the full £50m asking price or they will not sanction the transfer.
