Everton to make another run at Williams

Everton are expected to come back to Swansea with an increased offer for Ashley Williams after the South Wales club rejected an initial offer worth £10m earlier this week.

Ronald Koeman has earmarked the Welsh skipper as an ideal signing to bolster his defence which currently only boasts three senior centre-halves but the Blues' opening offer was knocked back.

There is some speculation as to whether the bid was a straight cash offer of £10m or whether there was the hope of an appearance-related clause but Sky Sports say that the Swans could be tempted by £15m.

Everton are unlikely to go that high, with other reports suggesting it's the belief at Goodison Park that £10m for a player who turns 32 this months is more than fair, and Sky's latest report smacks of bargaining being played out in the media.
