Blues linked with Bony as part of Stones deal

Wilfried Bony is being mentioned as a potential make-weight in a deal that would see John Stones make his oft-reported move to Manchester City.

The Ivorian made a £30m move to Etihad Stadium from Swansea City 18 months ago but has failed to set the world alight in Manchester, scoring six times and generally struggling for regular games.

The recent arrival of Gabriel Jesus combined with the impact made by Kelechi Iheanacho last season has increased the competition for places behind Sergio Aguero, leading to speculation that Bony could move on before this month's transfer deadline.

The S*n "exclusively" claim that Ronald Koeman has "approved" the sale of Stones to City if Bony is a £15m component in the transfer which, given their terrible track record when it comes to stories about Everton, should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Feeding the speculation, however, is the fact that Bony's black Range Rover was spotted driving in Liverpool yesterday – in itself, not that remarkable – while the 27-year-old's absence from City's travelling party to Sweden for their final pre-season preparations is being seen as another indication that he could soon be leaving the Manchester club.
