Everton closer to triple swoop?
Everton's late-developing transfer business could ramp up further in the next week after speculation linking them to three different players heated up over the weekend.
Well-placed reports out of Valencia had suggested late last week that Ronald Koeman was closing in on a deal for Aymen Abdennour, particularly after it was claimed that the Liga club's president had travelled to London to hold talks with Everton and Arsenal about the Tunisian defender and Skodran Mustafi respectively.
Now, Marca say that a €16.5m deal was close for Abdennour who attracted plenty of interest around the Continent during his time at Monaco. He endured a tough 2015-16 season with Valencia, however, and the struggling club might have decided to cash in.
Meanwhile, the Express reports that Everton have lodged an offer of €10m with Lyon for talented wide man Rachid Ghezzal. West Ham are also said to be strongly interested in the player and Arsenal's name also cropped in connection with him but it appears as the Blues are in pole position.
Lyon president Jean Michael Aulas apparently told RTL that, “Everton made a very significant offer yesterday.”
Finally, the Express's Paul Joyce is also reporting that Joe Hart has been told he can leave Manchester City this month and that Everton are keenly interested in taking him off their hands, either on loan or on a permanent basis for around £20m.
The Mail and Mirror cover the same story but there are claims that Sevilla are also heavily in the mix for the 29-year-old who was dropped by new City boss Pep Guardiola for Saturday's game against Sunderland.
