The report, supported by similar suggestions in the Liverpool Echo claims that the 27-year-old, who goes simply by Lucas in La Liga is a long-time target for Steve Walsh, would cost around £15m if negotiations with Deportivo La Coruà±a and the player are successful.

Compared to Leicester's Jamie Vardy in terms of attributes, Lucas scored 17 times for Deportivo last season and, the report claims, is "keen" on moving to the Premier League.

Local radio in à Coruà±a are now reporting that Everton are prepared to meet Lucas's release clause, clearing the way for the player to negotiate personal terms.
