Everton could let Ledson go

Ryan Ledson could be allowed to leave the Blues this summer as he looks to make the step up to regular first-team football.

The Liverpool Echo claim that the promising young midfielder is the subject of serious interest from Oxford United and Portsmouth and that the club would consider selling him rather than send him out on loan again.

Ledson appeared to have a big future ahead of him at Goodison when he emerged from the Academy at Finch Farm as a leader in the U18s side and at England youth level.

He captained England U17s to European Championship glory two years ago and made his only first-team appearance to date in the Europa League group stage match against FK Krasnodar in December 2014.

He was handed a loan assignment at Cambridge United last season where he played 27 games but his lack of playing time for the Under-21s at times last season and further opportunities at first-team level appear to signal that his development has not continued on the upward curve seen in the likes of Tom Davies and Kieran Dowell.
