Rodgers targets ambitious loan move for McCarthy

According to the Scottish Daily Mail, however, he wants to try and get away with only signing him on loan, while the likes of Newcastle, Watford, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace are all credited with interest in signing him outright before the transfer window.

Though McCarthy has started all three of Everton's matches this season, speculation in the media has it that new manager Ronald Koeman isn't entirely convinced by the Irish international.

Koeman might not be keen to lose McCarthy's versatility, though, particularly with Muhamed Besic out until February at the earliest and Darron Gibson's fitness unreliable.
