Sunderland knock back fresh approach for Koné

| Tuesday, 30 August 2016  0 Comment  [Jump to last]
David Moyes is digging his heels in at the Stadium of Light over Lamine Koné after a second bid was reportedly lodged by Everton for the Ivorian defender.

Ronald Koeman and Steve Walsh have identified Koné as a key addition to the Blues' defence and looked set to land him earlier this month before the Black Cats stalled the move after Moyes insisted that he would be offered fresh terms in the northeast.

Koné is thought to prefer making the switch to Goodison Park but Moyes is loathe to lose him, particularly if he is unable to draft in further cover at centre half.

A proposed loan move for Liverpool's Mamadou Sakho has not yet come to fruition but, in the interim, there are reports that Sunderland have rejected a £19m offer from Everton for Koné.
