A report in Italy claims that the Blues are interested in the 22-year-old who has a €45m release clause in a contract that still has six years to run.

That large sum appears to be standard practice for Portuguese clubs now as a means to either warding off interest in their best players from rival and foreign clubs or to ensure that they get big money should they agree to sell.

Semedo has only made 20 appearances for Sporting and has yet to be capped at senior level by Portugual.
